Sound Reinforcement and Theatre:
From Spatial-Sound Systems to Wave-Field Synthesis

In the age of home cinema and DVD, there is a continuously increasing demand for the highest sound quality in live performance sound reinforcement applications. This is the reason sound reinforcement technology is fundamentally changing. New paradigms, for example 'Wave Field Synthesis', offer visions of future sound reproduction methods. Other technologies such as acoustical room enhancement, distributed mode loudspeakers and digital signal distribution and mixing are already with us. Internationally renowned experts like David Griesinger (Lexicon), Diemer de Vries (TU Delft), Günther Theile (IRT), Wolfgang Köhnsen (VDT), Peter Arasin (Sennheiser) and many others will discuss all these new topics.
Other subjects to be covered during this seminar are the sound reinforcement techniques employed for open-air classical music perfomances, a practical example of a large-scale PA system, the future of wireless microphones and PA from the architects point of view.
This first part of the seminar will be rounded out with two workshops. Two digital consoles, AURUS and C.A.S. MIX 64 will be demonstrated.
This seminar is intended for FOH engineers and consultants from theaters, concert halls, private PA companies and other venues.
